Power 12V vs 220V

Post by offroadbiker »

Another fridge question - because I was wondering.............

What is the difference in power usage for a 12V fridge on your dual battery system as opposed to a 220V fridge with an inverter on your dual battery system?

Tx

Dirk wanneer jy n battery laai gaan 45%van die energie verlore aan hitte copper losses ect ...wanneer jy 12 na 220 verander omtrent dieselde. ...maw effective use of energy. ...maak dit sin?

Agree with Tinus - an inverter has quite big losses (heat, the fan for cooling etc), and the 220v fridges are not optimised for low power as the dedicated fridges.
I can do a test on my Snowman unit this weekend - ie run it on 12v and check the current/pwer consumption, and also then run it through the inverter and check... will be an interesting exercise!
