New Camping equipment

Post by stobi_de »

Hello,
My wife and me will start our next trip to South-Africa in Feb 2015.
We will arrive in JoBurg and then we have to go as soon as possible to Bethlehem.

Before we went back to Germany, we arrived from Kenya, where we had our travel-base for a lot of years.
In Botwana we found out, that our sleeping bags are not warm enough. The water in our coffee machine got frozen and we nearly too
Our ground tent is after a contact with baboons in Mana Pools NP a little bit modified  and we need a new one.

Is there a nice shop on the way to Bethlehem? Last time I did not see one.

There are many places that can offer you a replacement tent in the Jo'burg area, but there is also a lot of tents that are imported into SA from various countries.

I would recommend visiting Tentco in Boksburg ( just East of Jo'burg - very close to OR Tambo Airport ). They have a good selection and fair prices.

Here is their website

I also think you should go to Tentco.

I visited tentco and Yes, I found something, that I can't find :surprised:

The OZTent.

I saw it some weeks ago in the Kruger-NP. The fast and easy set up was amazing.
Unfortutely it was used by 2 chinese people, so I could not ask, where to buy.

Hmmmm.... OZ TENT is a very nice product. The agents or distributors seem to be another big franchise store called 4x4 Megaworld. They are also close to the OR Tambo airport. Here is their info. I know the OZTENT camp chairs are very nice and comfortable. Not sure about the tents, but assume they are quite good too.

I found one in gumtree
http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-camping-gear ... 0413652909
I wrote an e-mail. I think, the transport to Bethlehem might be a problem.

You mean the www.SA4x4.co.za forum?
