pop up roof top tent, 2.2x1.4m

Post by philr »

i know of the alu-cab pop up roof top tent, 2.2x1.4m , and the custom leisure tech options which are cheaper. what are the best pop up roof top tents available? and what material for the outer cover fibre-glass or aluminium or fabric?. at the moment i am favouring the cheaper custom leisure tech canvas or aluminium options, but what are the views out theref for occasional use (4 weeks away in total per year)

I am looking at getting one as well after my next trip.

Will be the Leisure tech one, alu hard cover.

Soft cover a little bit more work than hard top.

Alu stronger than fibre glass and def will last longer when exposed to the sun.

I know Tommie uses one currently maybe get his opionion as well.

Where do you get roof top tents for 5 to 7k? The cheapest I could find was the Tentco at R8k5 for the 1.2m.

Another advantage of an alu RTT is that you can fit solar screens to the top.

I dont know anything about the Alu pop up tents except the only person I spoke to who had one, complained that the rain came in through the windows because of the design. That was back in 2013 so the design has probably changed by now. I was however very envious at the speed he could take it down and move on while I was balancing on my roof rack struggling to fold my 1998 Echo without falling off.
