Mine is an Ali TJM bullbar. Its massively thick and robust, but weighs next to nothing compared to the identical steel TJM. I don't know if it is better or worse in a head on impact, but the more it crumples the less damage transfers into the chassis.
Just my 2 cents worth....

The cost difference between steel and ali is the scary part !!!!
