Re: 60L Additional feul tank
So is the plan to fit the secondary tank on the passenger side of the car?
Is there not enough space to fit it where the normal sub-tank is right at the back of the vehicle to fit a bigger than 40L tank?
Last question, how does the handbrake influence the tank as it sits on the back of the gearbox, or does the 4.5 have drums/disc setup at the wheels?

Re: 60L Additional feul tank
Michael, are you asking me or David?
I recall cables ( may be brake and or fuel pipes actually now that I think about it ) running the length of the chassis. On mine it clears so all it good.
I currently have a +/- 60L water tank where that sub tank would normally be. My patrol never came out with the sub tank.... just the push button next to the radio.... as a tease....hahaha, and no sub tank gauge on the dash cluster either.
So I want to convert that to a diesel tank as my filler point is sitting above the main diesel filler behind the fuel flap. I then want to re-route my exhaust to run along the prop shaft, and make up a water tank that will sit next to the exhaust. I want to basically transfer the heat from the exhaust onto the tank to get the water temperature warm enough to not need to make use of solar or gas heating for showering and dishwashing. I will rather keep drinking water either in a separate container or in smaller bottles pre frozen to help keeping the fridge as cold as possible ( compressor runs less ). I have a few ideas or set ups already discussed with Juice, so we will see how this works out.

Re: 60L Additional feul tank
Cedric, nah was just throwing the question out there
David mentioned handbrake cable interference so wasn't sure if the 4.5 and TD42's have the same setup.
Also, I actually forgot you had a water tank where the sub tank usually sits so I now understand the setup you are going for.

Re: 60L Additional feul tank
Maar Cedric se konsep lyk vir my eintlik beter...

Re: 60L Additional feul tank
Ricster - YES- pretty please Can we have them by weeks end please no pressure tell juice to move it
Alex - I have no idea if the GQ and GU looks the same down under so can not comment on that.
- As for fuel usage on the open road I get 7km/l so that gives me a reach of aprx 800km [60L = 420km] so 1200km
- Worst so far has been 5km/l so in the boendoes an approximate reach of 600km [60L = 300km] so 900km
The fact that I have the double rooftop tent means no space for Jerry's on top so they have to go in the vehicle, now on my bots trip I took 3 of them, where the passenger seats should be, one leaked a little bit, one leaked and one well it p....d
Now for the next bots trip we will be more than 2 people so above the fact that I don't want those jerry's back in the vehicle (would rather try one of those plastic tanks) I will not have the space as well.
Underneath the GQ next to the prop shaft I have ample space so would prefer the long term solution, a water tank as well would be a bonus but that is not the current goal, and I have 40L water inside the vehicle.

Re: 60L Additional feul tank
