You need to make sure you have some strong metal behind it ....when pulling up down or sideways the will be big force there.... mabe weld some serious supports back to the winch mount ??? Pieter connan can give you the real force amounts

I think if the fairlead is not in line with the bottom of the winch drum you may have problems with getting the rope to wind on evenly?
Sf for strength, it depends on how strong the front exge support braces are. I guess you could try but test it thoroughly and be prepared to beef it up if needed.

Thanks folks, I am going to, or I have already mounted the hawse fairlead to the winch plate. Adding more steel, from a fabricator would be costly and added weight.
