GU Bonnet Guard
Howzit Guys.
I'm sure anybody who has tried to find a bonnet guard for their old shape GU Patrol has found it pretty frustrating.
The only options are to find second hand or to import, both of these have their risks.
I have found a mould maker/fabricator specialising in fibreglass body kits who is willing to copy patrol parts for us.
Of course the catch is... I don't have any samples to copy.
So if anybody has any broken guards etc in the spares dept please could I ask to borrow them to make moulds from?
I would prefer damaged parts that are not in use anymore as I'm not doing this myself & don't want any accidents that may ruin functional useful parts.
We are looking at bonnet guards, rear wings & window wind deflectors, as at this stage the parts will not be transparent. We're looking at black, color coded or carbon fibre finishes.
Anyway before any of this goes ahead, who would be interested in these products if they were available?
Any help here would be very much appreciated!
Cheers
J

Re: GU Bonnet Guard
Agreed!
This is the first stage to get the moulds correct & get some testing done on the product.
Transparent is the ultimate goal, but babysteps for now.

Re: GU Bonnet Guard
I'm interested. Agreed you need to make out of plexiglass. We can also hear the verdict on the spoiler wind deflector that's suppose to help keep dust of your back window

I had a look for a while for headlight protectors and could not find any for the Patrol.
One day I went on one of theses flee markets (Zambesi Pretoria) and they had Headlight protectors for the Nissan Hardbody.
They were ... I think about 120 R ....
Cheap enough to give it a try and see if one can make them fit
I had to cut the inside of the protector so that the angle are in line with the Patrol Headlight.
The protector is fitted with an AL bracket on top and hooks in at the bottom of the headlight.
It ca easily lifted up for cleaning purposes and hooked back again.
The outside of the protector does not relay match the Patrols headlight shape.
(From 2m distance hardly noticeable)
It is by no means perfect but it is better than nothing,
To JP: ..... sorry for diverting from your original post but bonnet protector is still available to you in case you would like to manufacture a mould.
