Wobbly GQ Electric Rear view Mirrors

Post by TijmenvdS »

One of the first things I did on my GQ was to sort out the rear view mirrors, the shook so bad even when idling one could not make out what is going on at the rear never mind when driving.

I found a fix on one of the aussie forums but they had vague instructions and their photos expired.

Tool list:
1/ Needlenose pliers
1/ Sidecutter
1/ Phillips head (+) Screwdriver

Parts List:
4/ Small cable ties

Undo the single screw at the bottom of the mirror housing.

Lift the mirror up and then out, there are small hooks that are suppose to hold the mirror in place. Both my outer hook's catch on the plastic side had broken probably due to the plastic becoming brittle over time.

Put 2 cable ties through the mirror housing, there is a metal bracket on the inside with sufficient space for the cable ties, Each one as close as possible to the original hooks and latch them around the plastic mechanism on the mirror.

Put the mirror back in place, tighten the screw and tilt the mirror forward for best access.
Then carefully tighten both cable ties with the needle nose pliers and cut of any excess.

Janee hy het lank genoeg gestaan by sy vorige baas. Hy verdien aandag.
