Mine was attached in a similar way, and has torn the body in that area to bits.

Mine is now mounted directly to the chassis in three places.

The battery is heavy and persistent corrugated roads will do damage eventually, unless the mounting is really robust.

My first version of a battery bracket was bolted onto the body and 6 months later it started to tear.

The second version was still bolted onto the body but with plates welded to the body to strengthen it. So still not mounted to the chassis. I unfortunately do not have pictures and the battery is heavy to take out just for pictures.

It has lasted since (about 5 years). And that includes Kaokoland, which shook a lot of unexpected things loose in my car, but not the battery mounts.

Everything mentioned above is exactly right. Mine also started to tear. The holes for the bolts onto the wheel well need to be reinforced to handle the vibrations !!!

One other thing. Om the TD42 motor your exhaust is sitting very close to the battery, and batteries don't like heat. On mine I have branches and a turbo so don't have the heat shield like you do, but even with the heat shield that battery will get hot. While you are busy with the tray, make 2 sides to the tray, one on the exhaust side and one on the side closest to the firewall. You can leave the front open to allow airflow from the front. This will make a HUGE difference.

First, thank you all for the feedback! Did the reinforcement today. Two more mounts and heat shield.
