Installing Turbo Boost Gauge & Madman EGT

Post by SJC »

Hi Guys,

I bought a madman with egt probe and oil pressure sensor from a fellow forum member.
I'm busy looking for a turbo gauge. Might be getting this one: http://www.autostyle.co.za/car-accessor ... gauge.html

What all do you need to install the turbo gauge? Autosyle told me that the gauge comes with a t-connector and a silicone pipe.
(This all you need to connect it?).

Does anyone care to share a few pointers or even a pic or two on how to install a turbo boost gauge and a madman EGT & Oil pressure sensor?

Feedback from madman regarding probe fitment:

"The brass "olive" must be there, it becomes locked on the shaft after the nut is tightened the first time.

Yes, you can buy a replacement fitting - it is here :

http://madman.co.za/index.php/products1 ... on-fitting

You would need to file the brass "olive" off the probe and slide it off to fit the new fitting."

From my past experience, just looking at your probe wires, don't even think of using that probe. One thing you must never do is to bend the wires anywhere close to 90 deg. The wires on your probe look way beyond that - check the thread on this forum "Madman / Landy on Line" and get yourself a new probe from Brian. I wouldn't trust the readings coming off that probe.

Thanks Tony, i mailed Brian(madman) about this, here is his response:

"The kink could be a problem, however, the cables are well insulated so it is unlikely that they are touching inside.

The probe works by simply joining the two wires in the tip of the probe, so, if they are touching at the kink, the measuring point is now at the kink rather than in the tip.

To test this, fit the probe to the unit and power it up. Heat the tip with a lighter, it should go from ambient temp to a few hundred deg quickly.."

I will test it first :salute:
