I am in Silverton, it is R9p/L delivered in 25L drums and R10 deposit per drum

5x25L= 125L x R9 = R1125 + R50 Deposit for drums= R1175 to fill the tank Delivered to my workplace in 25 Liter drums.

Does not need to be mixed so I will try a pure batch. The guy says to aid in winter starting you can mix it to a ratio of Trail : Error. Each vehicle is different and winter problems may be only that the engine takes 1-2 turn extra to start.
Nothing special required to convert. Only vehicles with pipes older than 1988 he advises to change the fuel pipes.

My tank is still quite full so will probably only get to try it within a week or two.

The diesel gets delivered in 25L yellow plastic containers, that you pay a R10 deposit each on. Then you exchange the containers when they deliver the next time. So R9 x 125 + (5 x R10 once off). That's delivered!!

The bio diesel only gels at low temps, and I think will have a shelf life of about the same as normal diesel, probably a few months. The gelling only happens at temps below 6-7 odd deg C. as soon as it warms up it liquefies itself again. The colder the diesel is the thicker it becomes, so it becomes difficult for the injector pump to suck the thicker "oil" from the tank to the injector pump. This causes the starting on a cold morning very difficult until the fuel has warmed up a bit.

Some cars in colder climates have pre-heaters built into the line to warm the diesel up to allow it to flow easier. We don't have that luxury, so it can be a bit of a struggle to get the motor to start. The best way to resolve that issue is to blend the bio and garage diesel, as the garage diesel has "thinning agents" to lower the gel point.

Scared Micheal might not give my car back if he hears of this plan :helpsign:

He is busy at this moment, diesel pump calibrated and new injector tips. :doh:

Maybe I should try it in both the Patrol and the Pathfinder when I get back from Botswana in early July.

Malcolm, is yours CRD or Di?

I don't know how well it works in the CRD.... I have no knowledge at all. I cannot see why not, as the principal of the fuel is the same.
