Wow Cedric, that's cool dude.
I have a few old diesel implements and bakkies I could run with that...
Did she mention whether they deliver anywhere in Gauteng? If not, I'll call her tomorrow.

Re: Bio Diesel.... The Iron Maiden is going Green !!!
Brilliant Cedric
I can just emagine how this will go down on the river trip every morning.......
I had and old Isuzu kb250 which I also had running on my own produced biodiesel. Must add I dont think mine was any good, but the bakkie ran beautifully and yes my oil was from a slap chips cafe and you coulds smell it.
My diesel filter only lasted 6,000km so makes sense what you say.
Keep us posted mate!

Re: Bio Diesel.... The Iron Maiden is going Green !!!
Now this is interesting
Don't know if I have the ca-hones to do this to my car but damn that is a big price difference, you will think you are in Bots or Nam with such fuel prices
160*6=960 savings on a tank of fuel, pays for a filter with one fill up!!

Re: Bio Diesel.... The Iron Maiden is going Green !!!
Dirk, yeah it is a "risk", but from all the research I have done over the years, the Bio Diesel is actually far better in lubricity and cleaning than the garage diesel. The particle sizes ( not not the ppm ) is the only risk in my opinion, hence the reason we all have a filter before the injector pump. This is critical in the beginning stages of using the bio diesel, as it literally cleans out the tank, fuel lines of all the scale and possibly algae that builds up over the years. Once the system is clean, the filter will/should last as long as on garage diesel. I'm happy to go through 5 or 6 diesel filters until the system is clean... I mean at an average of R500 / tank saving, I'll happily change the filters once a week.....hahaha.

Cedric

Re: Bio Diesel.... The Iron Maiden is going Green !!!
I bought 125L, delivering this afternoon. So I will test a full tank. Cost wise it will be the same as a vehicle running 10km/L on normal fuel prices. If all goes well my Patrol will be affordable for me to drive daily
Spoke with the people quite a bit yesterday and I think it is definitely worth a try.
Thank you Cedric for the info.

Re: Bio Diesel.... The Iron Maiden is going Green !!!
Are you going to run it straight or blend it a bit?
Just be aware that early winter morning starts may be a little difficult if the vehicle is kept outside and the temperature is below 6-7 degC.
So far I have had no issue as yet. This morning it was 10 deg C in my garage

Re: Bio Diesel.... The Iron Maiden is going Green !!!
Cedric what is the effect of this oil if the vehicle does not get driven daily, standing in the garage for a month or two?
Does it settle or gel or something like that?

Do they deliver your 125 liter in a drum or canister or do you have to have empty containers / tanks available which they fill up ?
And don't they recommend some kind of diesel-pre-heating device fitted to your car ?
