Does all GU's have this function?
Reason for asking is that mine does not have this chime (possably disconnected by the previous owner).
Now the negative sidee is that I have no warming if I forget my headĺights on and have now 3 times had to ask someone to give me a jump start at work. Not sure if the headlights on warning is part of this?

haha.... Michael, we bought TD42 Patrols cause there is NO electronics.... don't cross over to the other side....hahaha....I must be honest though, a headlight warnng chime would be a brilliant mod to fit, cause I've also left mine on before a few times

These warnings are a pain in the butt! But they have their advantages as mentioned above - like saving the battery (a seriously depleted battery has a major impact on its remaining life and thus costs you money eventually).
I fitted reverse sensors and the buzzing from the sensor alarm is crazy sometimes - I found a good compromise - find the buzzer and wrap a little electrical tape or prestik around it and that will dampen the sound to something not so irritable. Just test and adjust the wrapping until to have the right volume...

Or do as my father in law did.... dumped superglue ( don't ask.... I was too scared to even attempt to ask why superglue.....  :rolling: ) into the speaker part..... it definitively was quieter..... but yeah I think a well placed blob of Prestik will work brilliantly.

It definitely needs to be adjusted as it is quite easy to overdo it on first attempt, so don't use anything permanent.

Miskien net die 4.8's en 3.0's?

My 4.5grx het ook nie hierdie funksie nie, het ook nie "hooflig aan" waarskuwing nie...

My 4.8 chimes when the drivers door is opened, if I leave the lighs on, but not if I leave the key in the ignition.

Maybe this will help:

"1. Remove steering column shroud
- 3 screws
- remove key surround
- with a small screwdriver, gently force the two shroud sections apart.
Insert the screwdriver where the 2 stalks enter the shroud. Only the bottom section of shroud has to be removed fully.

2. On top of the key cylinder 2 wires exit with black tube wrap, going to a white plug - for 4.2 models. For 3.0 models the plug is brown. This plugs into a white socket which is wrapped in foam around the black wiring loom. JUST UNPLUG IT!

3. Replace the shroud
4. Enjoy the silence"

("Just be aware that disconnecting this will also disconnect the "headlight on" warning. (Did in mine anyway). I put a switch in the circuit so that I could switch off the beeper if it became annoying - working with the door open for instance, but at all other times it is switched on."

Reply: "Mate I think you may have disconnected the beeper instead of the sensor on the ignition barrel itself. There should be no reason disconnecting the key should affect the headlight alarm. Certainly didn't on mine. ")
