Can anyone perhaps shed a bit of light on my GQ's VIN no as the usual VIN decoders are unable to help me. My VIN is 57ZCRGY60GFUC91 and I have a high top GQ. I am trying to find some historical info on the car.

Strange that is not a 17 digit vin, could have something to do with the age of the vehicle.

Not sure if patrols were ever built in usa, but 57 could be country code for usa.

C=high roof station wagon
R=TD42 engine
G= long wheel base
Y60= model

Nissan did build PATROLs in Rosslyn but only in as much as the assembling the body and chassis. The rest were all CKD. Some body panels came from Japan and some from USA [Ex Ford Maverick - Hence the VIN numbers having different Serie I/D's ] The engines and drive train were also imported and the all was assembled in Rosslyn. The stupid Import Tax regulations caused this mayhem, mostly, The American parts carried very little import penalties as opposed to Japanese and Spanish parts imports. Complicated , stupid Management decisions, BUT we still own THE TOUGHEST 4x4 :thumbup:

Thanks for the info,,,it at least says a bit to me and yes it has only 15 digits so it fits nowhere in ISO decoders. Also it had no free wheel hubs but I fitted those personally and that makes me think it might have been a military spec especially with the high roof.
