Hire a Patrol for Namibia
Hi - who can advise best options, or offer a patrol for hire for a foreign friend wanting to do faces of namib tour with me??
Some quotes received from vehicle hire companies are completely off the proverbial clock!!
Might even buy another one myself, loan it to him then sell after...

That's a tough one Chris, I think a lot of guys have trouble letting their wife drive their Patrol.
What will he be willing to pay just for interest sake?
I know the rental companies are very expensive, we hired a Fortuner for a Botswana trip when we did a demo for clients and set us back just over R30,000 for about 9 days...... madness.

Not a bad idea!Chris Skinner wrote:...Might even buy another one myself, loan it to him then sell after...
Given the relatively low cost of older Patrols, I have been thinking whether there is not a potential in doing this.
When will this tour happen?
The dynamic is this:
New cars: The drop in value over time means the time value of the hire is critical
Older cars: The cost of maintenance to ensure that the client is not stuck with something like a warn starter motor makes can make it potentially comparable in costs.
I would be more comfortable if there is a guide involved, or in your case someone other than European leading the tour, who may well drive straight through a full river and get stuck half way.

Re: Hire a Patrol for Namibia
Hey Tinus - sounds like a plan!
He could buy the vehicle and maybe even sell for 10k less after the trip - thus trip only costs 10K effectively, plus some good insurance.
The trip we doing is Faces of Namib from 14 May... its a guided tour and luckily no rivers to cross!
