Re: Battery Advice
Why don't you get a small intelligent battery charger an hook your battery to it so that a trickle charge will maintain your battery when the car is not in use?

Re: Battery Advice
I agree 100% first, try get two opinions from auto-elec. Might charge a R50 testing fee or something but well worth it.Wilkie wrote:They will not tell you if you have a unit in or not
Security reasons
But think you have to go do load test on your battery first and if it passses .. then start looking for that tracker unit :

Re: Battery Advice
I was present when tracker installed my device. And the techi told me that they put it in the same place everytime. Every car has its place where they put it. So I dont know. Might be along shot, but pm me and I'll tel you where to check.

Re: Battery Advice
I know it's not the ultimate solution but I have been doing what Jorrie suggested for almost 10 years now as I am away from home for extended periods. The trickle charger mainly supports the tracker unit.
But I guess you'd like to get to the root cause. Another option is to get a new one fitted. During the installation ask the installer to remove your old one first. I'm sure he'll find it in a few seconds.

Re: Battery Advice
My Tracker was installed in the back right door behind the panel. Maybe look there first.

Re: Battery Advice
How do I access that door without breaking the panel? Any detailed description how to get behind there?

Re: Battery Advice
Hi All,
Ok so I went to Batteries 4 all, Tinus this is the place I think you spoke about. Spoke to Jaco there and it was nice talking to someone that seems to know all about batteries and solutions and the do and donts. Well here it is in short. According to him I have two choices, get an charger or drive the vehicle more often. He said doesnt matter what battery I get. Letting the vehicle stand for 7 to 10 days will cause an issue. Especially due to the fact the week I do drive I dont drive that long distance either.
Ctek charger is definitely my answer like you guys suggested it seems. So then he tested the battery. Upon opening he immediately said the wrong battery were installed. Wrong size. The size according to him should be the 650. What do you guys have int he 4.8?
Test also showed battery is an borderline case. Could last a while or fall over anytime.
Just thought I will share this info. So I need to get a new batt now as first solution then Ctek charger expensive run.......
