The pressure in the gas lift can be increased, but not decreased. They force air past the seal on the rod. Start with a light pressure and increase as necessary. If I can remember correctly you can specify the Newtons it must push.

Here is something I once got of the net:

I spoke to Graham yesterday, and he gets Gabriel's and says that the pressure must be 500psi in both of them. He mentioned a price of R300.00 odd - not sure if that was each or for both though.

I wouldn't recommend it. Mine was set to 400PSi and it almost shoots out of your hand when you open it.

Maybe you can adjust the pressure again after fitting them and seeing what works for you?

I am a bit unsure which is the correct gaslift to use in my GU Pickup.
Some recommend 4141, some say 4043. My 4.5 got 4041's..(Gabriel Gaslift).
Does it make so much difference? Will they all fit?
I ordered some 4141's - hope they will fit...

Al twee sal pas Fanus, die 4141 maak net verder oop as die ander een. Ek het 4141's in en hy maak so groot oop dat ek in die engine bay kan in pas.

Pomp hom 400Nm en hy is perfek

I got mine replaced the other day, at R300 each. A friend with a 100 series cruiser rocked up at my place to show me his invoice as I got home - gas struts were R1650 each! :rolling:    It was an independent dealer who obviously saw a place to make a tidy mark up..

Gabriel Gaslift 4297 onder Chuck se bonnet.

Geen ekstra druk bygesit nie, maar hulle kan bietjie langer kon wees want hulle lig nie heeltemal so hoog op soos wat ek sou wou nie...

I got mine from Speedy's Port Shepstone. Slightly longer and 350 instead of the standard 320. Cost about R340 for both and they work very well.

Regards.
