Newbie Patrol Owner
I'm a newbie to patrol ownership and to this forum, so I'll start with a short background. Nine years ago I was fortunate enough to pick a good quality SWB landcruiser troop carrier 3.5d for 83k. Being an african edition version it was very basic (no heater, aircon radio ect.) but served as my primary vehicle for six enjoyable years. I sold her with 265k on the clock for 95k a couple of years ago because I believed I needed a gwagon. I'm still upset for selling her. Well this weekend I was driving down Cedar road and happened to pass a '91 SWB Patrol 4.2d for sale in very good for 75k. Without even driving it I knew that this was a worthy successor to the landcruiser. I negotiated hom down to 59k and paid on the spot. Besides some drivetrain vibration due to the suspension lift everything is in excellent condition. I cannot wait to fetch her this afternoon. I thought my landcruiser was bulletproof but the built of the patrol takes it to a whole new level. Seemingly I need to lengthen the lower trailing to get the propshaft geometry back inline. Does anybody know who I can contact regarding new trailing arms? I look forward to hearing from you guys. Cheers Adrian

Re: Newbie Patrol Owner
Thanks! I'll post some pics in the morning. The vibration occurs betweens 40 and 60kmph which is generally in third gear. The vibration seems to be coming from the back of the vehicle which indicates to me that it is either the rear diff or the prop shaft. There is also a droning noise coming from the same area when you depress the clutch or coast in neutral. Other that this she runs really well. I see it has a lever on the left have side of the footwell to release the anti sway bar. Anybody familiar with how this works?
I'm hopinh to get the previous owners number tomorrow to find out what services have been done on the vehicle. Cheers Adrian

Re: Newbie Patrol Owner
I took Daisey (my 21/2 year old daughter named her) for a long ride this evening. The drone I mentioned earlier is more like a rumble and is prevalvent when ever there is slack in the drivetrian i.e coasting in neutral and between gear changes. Backing off the accelerator on a flat surface also makes the noise, but if there is a little back pressure from the engine there is no noise. I must add that the handling are corners is excellent compared to the cart sprung landcruiser which always felt as is it was going to tumble into a ditch on the side of the road.
