Leaking steel rims

I have the original 15" steel rims on my 21 year old patrol. Over they years they leak and I have them "bandaged" on the inside (by a professional rim doctor) and it lasts a few years and then they leak again. Its pretty dangerous - got back from a long trip last week with one tyre on 1 bar!

Ive heard of putting paint on the cracks (from the inside) and then pumping up the pressure to force the paint into the cracks but that seems a bit dodgy to me.

Are there any better solutions out there?

Rod, as far as I know there are no permanent fix for those specific rims. The better option would be to replace them.

There are 15" alloy wheels that should fit no problem and I found a place a while back that manufactures 15" offroad steelies. Will see if I still have their details

Found it. If I knew about this place before I got my alloy wheels I might have gone for them instead.

Rod, those cracks grow, until the rim splits.

Please, for your own safety, get rid of them as fast as you can.

Chuck those old rims... time for new ones. Unfortunately thats just part of the game. Please don't drive one more km on those things.
