Tyre swap.... (255/85r16)
After rotating the tyres on the 4.2pickup the last time, 2 different tyre fitment centres was unable to balance the one wheel - i was convinced that the wheel is buckled.
Anyway I need to put new rubber on the 4.5 and decided to see what the bakkie's cooper st maxx's (255/85r16's) would look like on the 4.5...
So after having the fitment center swapping the tyres on the two spare wheels, I was presently surprised that both wheels balanced perfectly. There was nothing wrong with the wheel that was buckled according to two fitment centers....
I fitted the 33" spare on the 4.5 to see what it look like.. not bad. Personally I recon 35" would look better... (this vehicle is standing quite high..)
Discovered that the 4.5 got 30mm wheel spacers on the rear wheels. Why would you put spacers on the rear only? I know the pickup's rear track is narrower than the front, but on the 4.5??
And I also discovered that the 255/85's fit onto the rear door spare wheel carrier without the need of a spacer...

Check the front wheels, there might be spacers there too. If not it makes no sense and I would remove them. Its really not a good thing a broader track at the rear than in front.
The 255/85 will fit the rear door no problem......its quite a bit "thinner" than a 285/75

It may be for clearance. The back end might flex enough that tires start rubbing in the inside face of the wheelwell.
