Old, old Cooper BFG debate
Apologies for being off the grid for some time - I had a heck of a time lately with keeping afloat - within a matter of 2 weeks I lost 5 out of 9 contracts due to the some mining groups going one up on the acceptable BEE scale (my Co is a level 3 !!!) - not 51% black owned - sorry you're gone :( - but f*** that, that wont keep me down for too long !!
I must in the near future get another set of tyres - Earlier days with my previous vehicles I just loved the Coopers - due to unavailability of Coopers at the time I went for BFG Muds and must say I had a good time with them - question - price/benefit wise with a Mud Terrain - would you go with the BFG or with the Coopers ?

Re: Old, old Cooper BFG debate
Thats a tough choice to make. I wanted bfg km2's, but could not get any stock at the time, so i bought cooper st maxx... That was before the st pro's were available.
Imho, If i had to choose i would see where i can get the better deal..

Jannie....all the real cooper tires are great.....stt stmax at pro it depends wat you want . They come with 3 ply side walls and gives about 100000 km min per set .
Bf new al terrains are great so are there km2 muddies......same country same specs imho you can go with any of the above .....the size shoud be 33 for a patrol and to keep your street credit up go for muddies .....of stmaxx ......old gerrit used to say best all terrain tire is a mud terrain

From when I got my first mud terrains I was converted - I just love them. On road the sound is music to my ears and offroad - well hey, the proof is in the pudding, they're just awesome. I seldom hear of mud terrain owners going back to AT's and the such. Will phone around today for prices.

Re: Old, old Cooper BFG debate
Welcome back - I hope things are going better!
I went from STTs to ST Maxx same grip offroad at about 50% of the road noise, also slightly better (~8%) consumption.
The best prices I could get was from Tyremart Milnerton, give them a shout.

Is there a difference in floating (on sand) of the tire when deflated between STT, ST Maxx and KO2's - maw op selfde bannddruk (se teen 1Bar) watter een sal beter vaar in sagte sand - of nie noemenswaardige verskil nie ?

Re: Old, old Cooper BFG debate
Ek twyfel of daar 'n noemenswaardige verskil sal wees.
Op die duine-trippie was dit vir my duidelik dat min dinge enige neomenswaardige verskil maak, behalwe baie baie krag.

Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Re: Old, old Cooper BFG debate
Interesting - I saw on facebook that the latest tires used by The Desert Lion Conservation Project in Namibia was the Cooper S/T Maxx and although it "only" did about 28 000 km that it outperformed all previous brands. I don't think there are a more suitable "test" ground for tires anywhere in the world, ranging from rock to sand to mud and anything you can throw at a tyre 24/7.
