Airbag light flashing after sideswipe
Hi all,
My wife was sideswiped by a taxi this afternoon. All 100% fine, the bullbar did its job, but did lose the plastic bits on it, some big scrapes, and lost a spotlight somehow.
Anyway, the airbag light is flashing now. Why would this be? Is it something that must be reset? Or is there a bigger problem here?
Must say, I'm so happy my wife was in the patrol! Safe as anything in this tank.

Re: Airbag light flashing after sideswipe
Hallo Graham
I am glad that your wife is ok even so that the Patrol got some battle scares.
I hope that the year from here on will be a happy one for you.
The flashing airbag light is obviously a direct result of the accident. surely the impact was enough for the airbag module to register an error message. One also does not know how far the aftermarket bumper "interfered" with the design-parameters of the airbag system. I don't think it is a simple matter of just resetting something. Have it checked out with a diagnostic system (N-dealer or G-tech).

Re: Airbag light flashing after sideswipe
As far as I am aware aftermarket bumpers have little to no effect on airbag deployment. Your airbag module is under the handbrake with remotes on the sides.
Maybe something as small as a loose earth after the sideswipe.

Re: Airbag light flashing after sideswipe
"1) Open the driver's side door.
2) Put the key in the ignition and turn to ON (but don't start the vehicle)
3) Within 7 seconds of turning the key to ON, push the driver's side door switch button at least 5 times.
4) The Air Bag light should go solid...give it at least 7 seconds, and it should begin to blink a 3 second, 2 second on/off pattern.
5) Turn ignition to OFF and remove key.
6) Start vehicle, and wait for the Air Bag light to turn off to verify that it worked."

Re: Airbag light flashing after sideswipe
Thanks all for the feedback, I'll have a little poke around and see what I can find.
SJC, thanks for that method, I actually saw that on another forum later last night, I'll give that a shot.
But yes, I think I must get it to Gtech anyway, just to make sure all is ok.
Now to start the insurance claiming stuff

Re: Airbag light flashing after sideswipe
Best to get it checked & have an official report for insurance.
A) You dont want it to pop unexpectedly.
B) You want it to be in perfect working condition in case of a future event.

Re: Airbag light flashing after sideswipe
I tried all the little tricks floating around the web, but nothing works. I'll definitely need to get it to the pro.
Anyone know when graham is opening again this year? I can't get hold of him today, assume he's still on leave.

Hallo Graham,
I absolutely agree with JP.
As far as I know GTech will be back on the 15.01.18.
