Unlock button issues...

Post by hugejp »

Lately I have been struggling to open/unlock my 4.8

The button on the key seems to be very lazy.

She locks first time everytime, but unlocking is irratic at best.

I replaced the battery & had the locksmith check the contacts & all look fine.

I have also notced that the button works better if I am further away from the vehicle, close up like in my garage is more frustrating.

Has anybody else had this issue & how was it resolved??

On my wifes Sportage it locks itself immediately after pressing the unlock button. I gave the moving bits and pieces a good Q20 spray to see if it was just something sticking and restricting the action of unlocking causing it to relock. It helped for about a month, and is slowly starting to do the same again. I'll have to pull the door panel off and give everything a good clean, and hopefully that will sort it out. The same may be happening with yours

Did you ever find a solution to this?

Its driving me mad trying to unlock mine lately. Also, as you say, locking is on the first push, but, to unlock, you can stand there looking like a d!ckhead pushing and swearing at the car for ages.
Some occasions I think this is it, Im never going to get into this car

I had the key contacts cleaned & new batteries fitted(again), also re-coded the key to the car.

Its seems to have worked, although I dont know why???

I'm just glad its working again.

I had the same issue with my Y61, also had new batteries fitted and re-coded, and it worked great, for about 2 months, then the remote stopped working altogether, again...

I’m so used to using the key the old fashioned way, I don’t even use the remote to unlock the doors anymore
