How to disable / fix NATS central locking.

Post by andy daws »

Hi All.

I have a 1998 SWB 2.8TDI GR SE Patrol. UK spec.
Since I bought it 2 years ago , none of the remotes work and the alarm speaker/horn has been unplugged.
I have always just used the key to unlock and lock the vehicle.
I was not too worried about fixing or disabling it until recently.
What has started to happen is the car locks and unlocks itself repeatedly, especially just after you close the door.
It stops after doing this after a few times, sometimes once, sometimes 20 times...
It always ends up locked, sometimes I have to open the window and unlock it with the key from outside :-)
Mostly I can just unlock it, as normal, from the inside.
It is also very random, sometimes it will be fine, without any problems for weeks and sometimes it can really act up badly.
I have searched many forums and have not seen this problem.

I will be happy just disabling it by pulling a fuse / unplugging something.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Andy

Hi Andy, I've got the workshop manual for the European spec GU that might help. I can send you the relevant part if you want it. PM me your email address and I'll send it off.
