Wiring through Firewall (GU Y61)

Post by JohnBoyZA »

Hi Guys

anyone done wiring through the firewall recently? I need a LED bar switch and USB socket wires to go through to the center console from the battery.
What's the best path?
Thanx
John

John,

There are two rubber bungs through the firewall that I am aware of. This is on the 4.5.

The first one, is difficult to get to. It's near the centre of the vehicle, just behind the motor. I'd also suggest not using that one, as that is also where the main ECU harness enters the cab.

The second one is on the driver's side more-or-less directly under the brake booster. It will come out more-or-less at the driver's right hand knee. That one is unused (on my vehicle at least), so it's relatively easy to get access to it, and take wires through it without the potential of damaging any standard harnesses.

Hope it helps.

I used a rubber grommet near the steering colum on the firewall.

It sounds like the 2nd one Ian is referring to.
