So unfortunately I have not travelled far enough to do a proper consumption test. But my initial feeling is that the consumption has not returned to the "norm" of 5km/l. What I did notice, after doing some coolant system maintenance and running the motor in die garage for some time, is that I have an exhaust manifold crack/leak.

Frans told me that I had a crack about two years ago, but I could never really hear it, until now. Hats off to that man :salute:. Anyway, could a leaking exhaust manifold cause an increase in fuel consumption? At that time Frans told me not worry about it until it bothered me. It's not really bothering me, I'm just not sure what the negatives might be

I doubt a crack as small as you describe could make a measurable difference.
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Quick update: Unfortunately it would seem there is not a workshop on the West Coast with an exhaust gas analyser. (One kind lady referred me to Supa Quick - because they mos werk met exhausts en daai tipe goed  ) I took the troll to Nissan anyway to check of they pick up any error codes from the ecu. They did not see any errors but reset everything just in case.

After that on the first refill I got the best consumption ever! A wallet soothing 5.4km/l

We’ve a trip to Namibia coming up so that will be a good test if there was a real improvement.
