Look at bushpower.co.za for ideas and then the HCDP chargers. If I was buying today I would have gone the HCDP route instead of the C Tek. You can also speak to Jacque there and if he is not sure what you are talking about tell him to phone me. If you are feeling lazy his price for complete systems is not at all bad.

See this post - I put together a battery box which placed in the rear... used 50 sqmm cable - I want to run my winch etc and did not want to skimp on that.

By the way, my 100ah lead-acid battery is still going strong!

Feeling lazy and talking to Jacque... my question was will i be able to use this battery box to crank and winch and will the supplied 10mm cable be enough.

Short answer is no. Tell him you may need it to crank the vehicle so he must supply you with 25 mm cable (It will add to the cost) and make sure that he is supplying the bypass switch.

That being said this is a lot of extra expense for that feature as with the 2nd battery isolated as long as you run all your accessories off the 2nd battery you can not empty the main battery. The only real reason for the thick cables and bypass switch is to assist with winching.

I leave it for 10 month, and it has close to full charge... not like one of those lead acid thingies...

Yup, that is what the answer was. Decided to forgo that option... it would be an emergency feature and if i do that I can always just jump the car off the battery. As for winch power, I have never had a winch need more juice than the alternator and the battery could provide...

It is only for when you are on your own and car won't start or if you have a big ski boat like Chris or Wilkie....

Interesting, I have 2 extra batteries in the back with the Ctek 250 S. Do I need this switch thing a magiggie , or can I just use the Jumper cables from Chris if the need arises???
