Ho folks. I have just checked amps stamped from the alternator...and my mistake or misinformation from workshop manual. It is 110amp.

Now what do i do?

The washer bottle as a fuel supply is brilliant.

Hmmmm..... I would check the wiring size between the main battery and the charger..... possibly a big voltage drop. It should be fairly thick cable !!

Is your yellow top optima a deep cycle battery?
I remember you putting it in but cant find the thread.
The c tec dont pull more than 20 a so will not strain your 110a alternator . What frige have you got where does it stop working ? May be you drain your battery to low? If i remember is about a 60ah
If its a deep cycle you are close to 300 charges and that means you need a new one .... :mytwocents:

Graham fitted a Ctek "Smartpass" together with my Ctek 250 Dual - this unit increases / boosts the current going through to your 2nd battery which helps a lot with short trips and / or slow drives at low RPM's.
A pricey option, but it works.

Optima yellowtop are deepcycle. Full charge is 13.1v....i now get to 12.6v max. The battery lives on a custom mount attached to the chassis rail.

The dual battery management is piranha. The ctek is a smart AC charger. I chose against the CTEK smartpass as it only has 50C operating temperature. The piranha is 80C rated and know 2 others whobuse it.

Yes the battery has more than 300 cycles now...first switched on in May 2015 and switched off on vacations 3 times a year.

Maybe i will look into to adding the smartpass or similar system from other manufacturers.

I was thinking of LiPo4 battery as well, but the charging requirements increases the amount of electronics, which I don't want to go down, as that would be more points of failure.

What are the charging requirements for Lead cristal?

You need 14.8 charging voltage and it would give you appox 3000 cycles...also not to unhappy with a high amvient temperature

If your frige swiches of at 10.5v then you can use a high cycle agm also and it needs the same voltage as a crank battery around 13.8 v to 14v I :oldtimer:

The ARB fridge I have has a 3 shut offs. I have left it on Medium setting which translates to shut off at 11.4V and restart at 12.2V The optima yellowtops are deep cycle AGMs, I believe that my recharge from the alternator for the 40 minute commute each way is not enough to get the AGM battery to near 100% and perhaps only 80%.
