Hi All,

I need to get in behind the radio to see what is going on there?

I can see from glovebox compartment a little bit. But dont see a way of dislodging the glovebox cover to see or access better.

Qeustion is how do I get in there without breaking something.

Thanks:-!

Remove the two screws above the climate control unit.
Grab the section above the radio and pull firmly towards yourself. The facing around the radio should come away.
Remove the connectors for the hazards and demister.

5 minute job

Yeah ...thats the easiest way. The glovebox way won't give you any better access to the radio area. The two screws ( by the climate control ) are not that obvious, but once you see them you will laugh at yourself for not spotting them sooner. Pulling the centre cover off is a little tricky though, well at least on mine, and took a little persuasion.

Guys. 2 Screws out, but that plastic panel wont budge? Should I approach the panel from bottom? feeks like it will break if I put more force on. The wooden panel sides are they part of the trick?

IF IT IS THE SAME AS MY OLD 4.5 . Look at the 2 bottom corners of the cover. Should be a tiny cutout near each corner that a medium flat screw driver fits into. Cover the blade of the screwdriver with a decent cloth, insert screwdriver and lift and lever out. Do both sides and the you should then be able to manouvre the other clips out as you will see them.

When re installing fit top first and work your way down.

Check from the bottom if those 2 little slots are there. I was told by Nissan that the new cover for the double din fitted my old '98 but when I heard the price I modified my old one for the double din I fitted.

This would mean your 2007 should be the same. Will take a photo of where the slots are just now and post.

Hallo Jacques

Its basically as David described it.

The fitment / removal of the center console panel is basically the same on the 4.5 and the 4.8.
Its secured with 2 screws as described above. Other than that the panel is clipped in.
It is actually a bit easier on the 4.8 compare to the 4.5 due to the allocation of the switches.

Try to loosen it from the bottom as per Davids pictures, You can also try to loosen it from the side. Start with the LH side . (The center console panel includes the vertical wood-trim ... its one part )
If you are relay not sure than I would suggest taking a drive out to the Zambezis Traders market.
Go to the parking at the back and have it quickly removed by Tony. He is driving a Nissan 1400 .
He can than also check out your radio unit and / or install a new one. He does radio installation 7 days a week. :salute:
