Driver window failure

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my driver side window. A rattle started on monday. By yesterday it was making grinding noises when it is closed with the auto up fuction. Grinding noise only happens once fully closed. Took it to the dealer today. They removed the door cover and found 2 bolts that fell out. Fastend the bolts. The rattle is gone but there is a new problem. When using the auto up to close the window, it closes and then opens a little bit. Seems like its range is out.

Can someone please advise on how to fix this? :helpsign: :helpsign:

Joshua,
I bought my car with that failure and even almost got tricked by the Factory to make a booking and have it fixed.
It took me more that a year (not full time) to get that right.
There are two things.
It can be an alignment issue but ( as in my case) there is a small micro switch inside the motor assembly that broke.
If this switch is working correctly and the alignment is correct that tells the window controller when to stop.
If it does not see the switch and the window reaches the top the controller detects an obstruction when it detects that the current drawn goes up due to the fact that the window has reached the top and stopped moving but the motor is still winding the window up. At this point the controller reverse the direction to "release the obstruction".
First thing to do is to reset the window controller. The procedure is in the manual but will have to look for it over the weekend.
Lets try this first before digging deeper.

Joshua,
Have a look at these:

I will still look for the data in the manual.

Hi Riaan,

Thanx for the replies. The dealer actually phoned me the next morning and told me to bring in the trol so they can fix it. It is as you say. It needed a reset on the switch behind the door panel.

I must say. I have a great local dealer and the guys are very helpfull and willing.

Thanx again Riaan.
