Biggles....Our 4.2 diesels luckily don't rely on battery power to get the diesel up to the pump...... however..... That is an old school way for a great no technology motor saying thank you for the tender loving care !!

You forget I have a frankentroll. As I understand the fuel pump is still 3.0Di

Hmmm... PM Frans ( Tour de Frans ) cause I think that a ZD30 pump is way different to a TD42 pump..... but hey I may be wrong.

or post a photo of the pump then we can have a look

Maybe I am wrong. Are you referring to the injector pump at the front that is driven off the timing cover

Biggles... As far as I know the 4.2 doesn't have any electrical pump to get the diesel to the injector pump. Its that pump you described above that does everything. its purely a mechanical pump that sucks the diesel from the tank and pressurizes it to few bar through the injectors and the feed off goes back the the tank.
