Thanks to all of you but have decided to take a step back and relax. Mechanic will be at my house first thing Monday (Patrols are not easily towed and I would be too embarresed anyway) , will buy the Haynes manual on Tuesday (Thanks guys but I like working off the old paper that I can move around with me and make notes in - good bedtime reading) and then finish putting a full preventative maintenance schedule together and then send it off to Graham with everything that needs doing plus what he suggests.

Oom Mac - won't make it on the 18th as have lots to do before having fun including broken engine mounting etc but will make the next one.

My comments this morning where probably a bit of a rant as you cannot expect to buy a 15 yr old vehicle for under R 100 k and expect everything to be perfect. In fact I still think I have a bargain and within 60 days and R 20 k will have an insane reliable vehicle. Then the upgrades start............ :woo: In fact with no transport and a weekend to kill I will fit the triple battery system and get further with the storage system.

David, download the manual anyway.

It is very very much more informative than any of the books on the market...

I second Peter Connan's comment.
Once you have downloaded the manual you can print it for less than the cost of a Haynes manual.

And all is fixed and I am a happy camper again.

A previous Owner had fitted an immobilizer switch behind the dash which cut out fuel and main electrics. The switch had been fixed with double sided tape, fallen off over time and with bumps etc eventually switched itself and immobilised the vehicle. Thank goodness the final switchoff was in my driveway.

Consider changing the heading of this post - "Unbreakable Patrol Temporarily Imobilised by faulty Aftermarket Immobiliser"
