Ok how do I put this mildly...
I think my Patrol is sneaking out at night and going on trips without me...
I serviced my vehicle a week ago (250 000 km). Drove to Mafikeng and back and a small amount (max300 km) of city driving. My clock now tells me that I drove 5000 km on one and a half tank! As much as I like that idea, the problem is.... I don't remember the extra 4000 km I drove.
The only logical conclusion is that the clock must be completely wrong.... but if my ODO is working fine... where the hell did the extra 4000 km come from? My clock currently says I did 255 000 km.
Anyone have any idea where I can start looking?

Re: My patrol is going on trips without me!
I have the opposite problem - I can't believe the odo reads so low when I consider all the fun times I've had with Chuck Norris!
On topic again: AFAIK all Y61 Patrols (even the old-school 4.2 diesels like Chuck) have an electronic speed sender that's used to drive the odo & speedo. It's also used to manage a bunch of other things like air-bag deployment and even the temperature readout in the roof console (which won't increase unless the vehicle is driven faster than a certain speed for a certain period of time). I know about this last one because I had to locate that wire behind the dash when I fitted my scrapyard sourced roof console...
That wire's pulse frequency increases with road speed, so it must somehow be pulsing faster than it should be to create your problem. Hmmm... a loose contact could cause it to add extra pulses? Or driving on tyres that are waaaaaaay too small?

I don't plan on driving on tyres that are smaller than the hubs the rims fit on.Or driving on tyres that are waaaaaaay too small?
I'll check for the wire though thank you.
