NATS Security System Problem

Post by Chris Skinner »

Hi Guys
Does anyone know something about the NATS system?
The indicator light on dash (small red that flashes when car is locked), is on steady when driving. This obviously indicates some fault in the NATS system. Has anyone experienced this, and if so, what was the problem and how was it corrected.

I must just check - I think mine also stays on while driving and it is just behind the steering wheel so I do not normally see it.

This could be normal - will check the manual.

Definately not normal to stay on while driving .

Mine goes off when car is unlocked and stays off while driving untill locked again.

Not sure what it could mean though when it stays on......will most probably have to ask the very clever agents with that wonderful fault finding machine they plug into our cars :rolling:

Chris

Sorry - on a serious note I wanted to say........Try find someone who has a launch computer to run a dianostics check for you on the car - that should highlight the problem. Nissan won't easily do it without charging you - unless you have a good contact.

Today looks like I sold the 4.5 to a young fellow who currently has a disco with a V8 conversion - sounds like he has many problems with that car, always in the garage for something or other - well he's in for a big and happy surprise as the green monster does not know what the inside of a garage looks like. He could not believe that there was no oil pouring out of some gasket or crack in the 4.5 motor! ..... Good luck Daniel!
I did however take it to Atlantis Nissan today to have a diagnostic test done on the NATS system - see first post in this string. I watched the mecanic do the test with the fancy device - the result = no problem was identified - so a little piece of mind I must say. Actually Atlantis was very helpful and did not even charge me for the test - which I heard was R500 as a starting fee (1 hour flat rate).
