I would not have thought double-sided tape is hard enough?

I adjusted the latch on mine a few years back as it did the same. I had to adjust mine a couple of times to get the best "closing feel". I also still had a flickering light on corrugated roads, and stuck a thick piece of high density foam ( +/- 4mm thick ) and that helped till the foam collapsed where the "button" presses on it.

You will need to put something that doesn't collapse after time on there and your problems will be sorted !!

I considered cutting a small piece of rubber floor mat and Genkem'ing it in place.

Had the same problem on my 1998 GRX. A hard piece of rubber did the trick.

I have 2 switches that does not work (i.e. the internal lights does not come on when the doors are open, being the LHS front door, and the little barn door) the switch itself is fairly easy to open and "fix" but the fix doesn't last. Has anyone replaced their switches?

I put 2 to 3 layers of insulation tape on the 3 door latch hooks of the rear doors.
It takes a bit of effort to open the door but the open door warning light doesn't come on while driving.
The doors also doesn't squeak anymore.
At one stage the top latch didn't close properly and you had to use force to close the door. A bit of Q20 sorted this problem out.

A finally had enough of the flickering warning light and decided to sort it out for good. Previously I kept putting new foam pieces on but they are too soft and compress eventually.

I found these little goodies at a local hardware. They are hard and I think ideal. So far no flickering light even on the farm roads. The thickness seems perfect for the switch to operate fully.

I had this issue suddenly present itself before a predawn trip to namibia. After finding the culperate door I unscrewed the switch at a stop and go. Played with it and then put it back. Problem solved...

My Patrol is now 10 y.o. and starting to have the same issue (actually a few other electrical issues as well), but I guess that will happen with all the shaking over the years. I can, however, also feel the rear, left barn door not closing properly ... will keep you updated. Thank you for the solutions above.
