Yesterday, I picked up an ATF leak on the power steering pump lines. I've disconnected the belt driving the pump. I hope the pump's ok (TOUCH WOOD).
A friend pointed out that some of the belt driven devices, such as alternator, have more than one pulley. So it looks like you could use longer belts to actually connect steering pump, alternator and fan to provide for back-up if one belt goes.
Is this correct? If so, what does your belt setup look like?

Yes you can, but. If you run a long belt to join the p-steer,water pump and alt,you can only do it with the 1 belt closest to the radiator. The p-steer has a single groove pully. If you do it like this and the 2nd belt brake, there are to little grip on the front belt over the water pump/fan to drive it propley.Would not recomend it, leave it std. Also makes it confusing to buy belts far away from the house.

Ok. Thanks Frans.
Just checking that someone didn't take shortcut with fanbelts in the past.
I also have powersteering again It's been a bugger manoeuvring out of tight parking spaces
