Re: Steering Shock?????
Hello AJ
That "shock' is your Steering Damper. It prevents the steering wheel from breaking your thumbs if you're off roading. Just think of an old farm tractor or early cruiser pick ups with out power steering. My dad taught me to drive with my thumbs outside of the steering wheel on the farm. If the wheel should hit a rock in the field, the steering could spin violently and easily break your thumb.
Best is to replace it with an OME steering damper. I've got one on my Patrol and it's wonderful. Check with any 4x4 fitment centre. It uses the same damper as some or other Land Rover, but don't be afraid, it's an OME part. You can replace it yourself and save a few bucks. very easy!!
