n Vragie vir die tegniese manne, het mens n spesifieke tool nodig om die vervanging van die seels te doen, ek het toe by Spares shop die Partquip seel "kits" gekoop teen R43 per kit, links en regs , so n jaar terug was die "kits" vir agterremme by Nissan so R1650.

Shalom

Jules,
Long time ago now-If I recall correctly, I used a socket- pick the correct size & tap it in gently

Just a note of thanks to all the contributors on this thread as well as others covering the same subject.
Just had a week in the Kruger, and while there had a rear wheel getting stuck.(on day 2!!). Pulled the right rear wheel off and to my disgust found the caliper and disc pads to be in awful shape. The piston was pretty well stuck so used a big screwdriver to release the pressure. I had no choice but to carry on enjoying the holiday and sort things outonce back in civilisation.

Got the discs skimmed and got a set of pads from Ferrobrake in Kempton Park today. Seals kits, copper compound and brake fluid courtesy of Midas in LA - that is lower Alberton, and some paraffin and heat resistant paint. All inclusive about R10k, but without labour only R1280. I should finish tomorrow, and b.t.w. no special tools required.

Jules, as jy die GQ workshop manual will he, laat weet my. Alles op PDF in kategoriee. Ek kan so een op 'n slag aanstuur om files klein te hou.

Hi Jules,
Ek is nie seker of dit dieselfde is nie, maar dit behoort dieselfde informasie te bevat.
Ek het nou net my trollie gaan toets. Die sonbesie is dood en die handbriek is nie meer permanent aan nie. Dit voel amper soos 'n nuwe kar!!

Hello Gents,

I discovered my Front caliphers are in a horrific condition and have to rebuild them as well. Last time I paid the stealers R1500 for the rear calipher kit, but remeber some of you mentioning alternatives, so I was looking through this thread and discovered two things:
ama-glug-glug wrote:All inclusive about R10k, but without labour only R1280.
R10k as in R10 000? New powerbrake discs for the GQ rear is less than R1200 x 2 for a set. Calipher kit (Nissan) is R1500. brake fluid etc etc still does get you only close to R5k

That is not as amazing as the picture of your bolt! During the construction of Douw Steyn's residence at Steyn City, when the formwork for the concrete slab above the garage was considered, the contractor mentioned that the equipment may very well chip and damage the garage concrete floor slab. "Don't worry, it will be tiled with marble floor tiles." was the answer...

Grant went one level up, he has a granite floor in his garage!

A serious question, is the diameter of the front calipher pistons the same as at the rear?
