In the Souff of Joburg CBD is a very resourceful nuts and bolts shop. They stock a variety of studs, even got a 7/16 stud for a classic I'm working on. When I have the time again I'll pop in to see what they have and the cost. I ordered some from Nissan and should get them today.(and yes I did order extras)

On the die , there is not that much room between the hub and stud, i just wonder if a die will fit in there but then the studs threads look ok. Has anyone ever used a thread restore file and do they work well or so-so

Hello, yes I use a threadfile often,it work well. You can over-file the thread, but if you take care it can be a perfect finish.I am sure all your studs cant be damaged, and the die might do the trick yes,if it can fit like you say.Wont it work without the T-hande and maybe with a soccet.
