Wiper blades

My "new" wiper blades have perished after +/- 14 months since replacement. I have tried to buy the blades themselves (silicone if I recall correctly) as I did for my other vehicles. Autozone tell me that they no longer supply this product.

Any suggestions from forum members?

I have also noticed that wiper blades only last a year. Unfortunately it's one of those things

Planned obsolescence...

You can give them a bit more life by cleaning them with meths then rubbing on some silicone. You can also buy a blade thingy which you run down the length of the wiper which (like a potato peeler) cuts off a thin layer of the blade...

or... just replace

Checked my office vehicles this morning. Definitely some of the blades are not a rubber compound - probably silicone but I cannot tell.

Pulled the invoice on the Isuzu LDV. Blades last replaced November 2015 and purchased at Autozone. Methinks more research called for.....

R84.80 to replace 2x front and 1x rear wiper with Hella wipers from Midas last Friday (18th). Not even 10mins to remove, purchase and fit new ones.

Reviving old thread on wiper blades.

The Nissan OEM blades that was fitted to our "new" 2016 Patrol was probably the same set fitted in Japan in 2016. They were really bad, wiped about 30% of area under the blade.

I was looking for a modern upgrade and found Bosch AeroTwin Retrofit blades that work with the Patrol's "hook" type wiper blade arms. Early days, but I am really impressed with their performance. I purchased them from Tiger Wheel and Tyre when I fitted new tyres on the Patrol. Passenger side is a 24" (Bosch part number: AR24) and drivers side is a 18" (Bosch Part Number: AR18).

I read somewhere the Bosch blades have graphite (infused?) rubber for some time already. No longer silicone, since the graphite type blades seem to last
and clear the windscreen much better....

Ja I also use the Bosch wipers. Quite pricey relative to the regular after-market stuff but they seem to be a better product and have lasted me well
