Re: Heater Stopped Working
If I understand correctly, the Patrol's heater radiator is always on, but airflow is controlled. This is done by a set of electronically-operated flaps.
If so, one of these must be on the blink, or stuck. HAve you checked fuses?

Re: Heater Stopped Working
As far as I know the heater is not always on (I am refering to the GU) the "heat adjustment knob" has a cable that runs to a flap to control the water flow through the radiator under the dash.
First check if that cable is still secure in its place where it should be. I have found both mine and Tinus's have pulled out and hence could not fully open or close that flap/valve.
I have a heater core (I think) in my garage, will take a pic and post it

Re: Heater Stopped Working
Is the Climate Control on the 4.8 the same as our simple heater/cooler setup on all the other GU's other than the 4.8?

Re: Heater Stopped Working
Thanks Guys.
Peter - I checked fuses, don't see any blown but also not exactly sure which ones control the heater servos etc... see pics ?? I also don't know how to check the relays.
Michael - how easy to locate and check the cable you mentioned (not sure if 4.8 has such cable - it seems to all electronic??

Re: Heater Stopped Working
Yeah I don't think the 4.8 has a manual cable. I'm thinking outside the box at the moment (well actually inside the heater box.....hahaha ). I wonder if the heater radiator is full of dirt and debris which is clogging the cores of the heater radiator. Does yours have the pollen filter? If not then over time the dust and few odd leaves seem to make it through and slap up against the heater radiator. If yours does have the pollen filter in then I doubt that is the problem, other than the filter itself being clogged, but then your airflow through the vents would be very little.
Have a look at this. It talks about the aircon but on the pics you can see the amount of dirt that collects in there.

Re: Heater Stopped Working
Check this too.... I see the goodies are adjusted via vacuum pipes
http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/nissan-p ... air-53707/
and another comment from the Aussie site....
check your heater hoses for blockage and the controll valve on the fire wall where the hoses go to
see if it is working
cable from controll pannel leaver could have slipped

Re: Heater Stopped Working
Ai Chris sorry to be the bearer of negative news..the patrols fitted with climate control is all servo operated and it has a heater unit (valve )that sits inside the cab behind the aircon unit
You might be lucky and try to flush the system with heater on hot and hope its just a bit sticky and that it will come loose..you will see that above the exhaust manifold there is two rubber hoses going into the cab
if the heater is on they should be equally hot which mean the hot water is circling .......other than that ...Graham and David has got a 2nd spare unit
Good luck

Re: Heater Stopped Working
on the 4.8 GL and I'm sure the GRX the heater is always on - i.e water flows through the matrix the whole time, temp is controlled by diverting more or less air flow over the matrix.
And I would guess the reason fro most patrols blowing very hot air into the cabin after a short engine switch off (10 min?), is the heat soak from the heater / aircon unit .
as mentioned first check if both heater pipes are hot, if only one is hot in could mean that the matrix is blocked. If you only want to flush the heater then you could do it by disconnected the 2 pipes in the engine bay and see what comes out
