My 5 Cents,

I drive the old GQ and I also have had the irritation of hot air in the cabin. I decided enough was enough and took all the seats and carpet out. Took some IRB 420 heat resistant sheeting and covered the entire cabin, as well as the gear box area. Fitted additional felt to the front area to quieten further. Also took silicon and closed off all the grommets that allow all the cables entry to the cabin through the fire wall. What a difference. Next step is insulation similar to what we use on the hot water pipes at home for the heater pipes.

Probleem opgelos...

Oom Mac.... you mentioned a pollen filter.... Is there one on all models of Patrols? and if so does anyone know where it is and how to remove and replace??.... I remember my BMW's filter would block up on a regular basis.

oopsssssss - almost dinna C dis vhun ... Pollen filter should be indicated in your vehicle's manual [Owners Manual]
For the Terrano - it seats behind the "cubby hole" - so you have to unscrew the lid & box - behind should be the pollen filter.
Cleaning does not really help a lot - so best effect is to start with a new one, and then keep it clean.
Agarob will have his replaced at next service - I will ask Gert where the @#$%^&**&^%$@ thing sits.

It is now a real irritation and the only issue I have with an otherwise perfect vehicle. Will have a word with Nissan dealership when it goes in for next service.

Cheers,
Any luck Peter? My old Terrano would have these SAME symptoms but also loads of heat from the Gearbox, it does make me a bit scared to buy a Patrol  , my current Pathfinder has no such issues, no hot gearbox even if doing 140+km/h for long time, also the AC has no noticeable effect on fuel consumption even in 43C. My AC is always on in the Pathfinder, even in winter. It helps the car from becoming stuffy.

Dieselfan remember that the hot air problem only occurs when the air con is off, so if you use your aircon all the time, you will never even notice. Gearbox heat is not a problem in the Patrol unless the Viscous fan is not working correctly.

I also have not been able to notice any difference in fuel consumption, but when I am in the bush I like to have my windows open. I like to "feel" the bush, to smell it and hear it.

Hello Sias

When I switch off the air-con I make sure the temp is turned to minimum - seems to solve it for me.

However, lately I drive with the climate control on all the time - even when I have windows open
