Re: GU Y61 Rear Windows Mod?
Thanks Grant!
Those are some very useful pics. I can see that the idea is easier to implement on a GQ, but I`m sure it should still be possible on a GU.
I have missed the boat now to get this done before my Namibia trip in a few weeks time, but I still think this would be a worthwhile mod, and am definitely going to try and get something implemented before too long.

Hi Guys,
This is an old post, but anyone who did it on a GU? I would like to do mine.

Re: GU Y61 Rear Windows Mod?
Hi guys.
I am also keen to try something similar and have been looking at options for a while now. I like the idea of the steel "window" in your pics, particularly for security and durability etc. I am building a drawer system that will be quite tall and a lot of the useful space between the drawer and the back window (over the wheel arches) will not be well used. The plan is to fit a box on the inside similar to that found on an RSI type canopy that would mean the back of the vehicle could not be accessed from th side and I could store a fair amount of things that could be. The "box" could also be sealed to avoid ingress of dust and water from the outside. Perfect for a bush shower setup, kitchen or tool cupboard.
Cheers,
Gary.

Re: GU Y61 Rear Windows Mod?
I know mine is not a Patrol, but I'm following this thread for some ideas. My van has back windows that can never be replaced if broken, so I may as well start looking at a replacement that can also be functional.

Re: GU Y61 Rear Windows Mod?
Hi Guys, was speaking to one of my reps and she showed me some photos of what her hubby has done re replacement bumpers front (+-R13000) and replacement rear bumpers with double swing away wheel carriers (+- R9000) looks impressive, he only does cruisers at the moment but is keen to have a look at doing Patrols as well, I will speak to him and see if he would be able to do the window mod as well
