Sliding window

Post by Peter Connan »

Hello All

Does anybody know where I can find somebody who is really jacked with automotive glass?
The fixed pane of the left hand side sliding window of my car is broken and was replaced with a piece of perspex, but this is not ideal because it rattles annoyingly. Unfortunately the correct piece of glass is extremely expensive.

I have however noticed that the side glass on a Hi-Ace is larger and has approximately the same curvature, and is a helluva lot cheaper. I am looking for somebody who can cut one for me or tell me how to cut it myself.

Thanks

uhhhhhh - P/ter - Oompie has it [and I am often <mostly> WRONG] that the automitive windows are laminated together and thus they cannot be re-cut [but I may be wrong]
What says PG Glass or Glass Fit and them okes?
Else - contact Jose Costa at Italian Panelbeaters [Pta West] and ask if he can maybe source what you need at better price.. (tell him I said he must help you .. anners sit ek op hom]

Thanks Jules and Oom Mac

Jules I have considered it but the kids like sitting in the back there when we go on a trail.

Oom Mac I have had flat laminated glass cut to size before, and I am battling to understand why flat glass can be cut but not curved glass, since laminated glass can in any event not be cut with an ordinary glass cutter?

Or have I got the crocodile by th e tail?
