Burnco rear bumper

Post by Sias »

Just a follow-up on the discussion about the burnco rear replacement bumper and spare wheel carrier as seen in Leon Park's introductory post:
I wnet to see if I could speak to the guy but he wasn't at home. I did manage some photo's though and on one of them, you can clearly see the Burnco sticker, so I can't see why they need the car to make jigs and stuff...

 I have just spoken to Burnco workshop guy and he confirmed that they now have Jigs, ( made last month) So in the not so distant future maybe the Patrol will look different.

That seems like good news - there appear to be a few guys looking for rear bumpers so surely we can organise something!

How many members are willing and able to purchase a rear bumper; perhaps we can get a nice deal?

I'll be following up with Onca again later this week.

Did he mention a price?

I was give R7,500 for rear bumper, excl vat

R5,500 for double wheel carrier, excl var

about R14,800 incl VAT and labour.

Incidentally, Onca is similar price, although I havent received formal quote.

I've got Sias, Scuba Patrol, who are interested in Onca as well, and also closer to JHB than CPT. JohnDough do you have a preference, or does it come down to price alone?

For transport to JHB speak to King's Transport, they charged me R350 to door-to-door two complete diffs from Jo'burg, so a rear bumper cant be much more. Burnco more than likely will package as well to avoid damage during transport.

No preference really, price is always a good factor- do we have pictures of the Onca version?

Onca dont have pics of a rear bumper fitted to a patrol - they specialise in toyotas and, do a very good job as well. Russ has Onca bumpers so he can provide more insight into the quality.

They will need a patrol to do mark-ups etc, i have a 1998 GU and am willing to have them work on it as the template - as far as I know the shell on all GU station wagon patrols is exactly the same.
