The company who did the fitment said that it is not necessary but I had a bad experience with my Navara. Towing my Explorer to Naxi Pan the gearbox overheated and it was a costly exercise to fix it.

It was fitted by Rex Diff & Gearbox in Boksburg. R1200,00 later for peace of mind- I think it's a good investment.

I'm under the impression that mine has a factory fitted oil cooler - will check.

All auto Y61's have a built-in gearbox oil cooler, which forms part of the radiator.

Mine has another external one. It sits in front of the ac radiator.

Question for the clever folks out there...

Would engine oil coolers be suitable as automatic transmission coolers?

I have 2 × aprilia 1000cc motorcycle oil coolers collecting dust on a shelf, they are about 250mm × 150mm ea.

Could they pass as automatic gearbox coolers?

rather fit the original oil cooler from nissan.. its made to fit in front behind the grill :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:
