Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

I am looking to do gearbox swap between 2 of my Patrols.

I have a 98 Manual 4.5 petrol GU & a 2003 Auto 4.2 Tdi GU (ex 3.0 Hand-grenade)

I would very much like to Swap out the boxes between these vehicles - So put the manual box (from the Petrol) into the Diesel & the Auto box (from the Diesel) into the petrol.

Converting the Diesel to manual shouldn't be too crazy, but I am a little concerned about fitting the auto to the 4.5 Petrol... Does any one have any experience getting the 4.5 to "talk to the auto"?

Any advice would be very welcome

No.

But i do have a little bit of experience of that auto on a 4.5, and to my mind it's not a good match.

That engine wants to rev, and the gearbox has been programmed not to...

Having the same problem on the TD42 that its currently bolted to. It wants to keep the engine around 1700rpm and thats far from the sweet spot on the TD42

The real goal here is to change the diesel to manual.

The 4.5 is being converted into a gameviewer as we speak, so performance wont be top of its list & an auto gameviewer may be smoother & more comfortable.

Trying to kill two birds here, but in reality the bias goes to the diesel...
