Rear diff overhaul TD42

Post by Griffman »

Hi everyone

My truck is in at Transaxle for various drive train issues, one of which being a rumble coming from the rear diff.

The guys do not want to strip the diff down until they are certain they can get parts.

Can anyone help me with a supplier for parts?

The truck is an early 90's TD42 n/a pick up....an import I assume.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I would be quite surprised if most of the parts are not common to the Safari pick-ups. Can't promise though.

Hi Justin

We import parts from Terrain Tamer in Australia. I can get a Diff Overhaul kit from them for the H233B and H260 axles (GQ TD42). Just let me know what you have in your vehicle. Please have a look what is in the kit below. We should be able to assist with the crown wheel and pinion as well. If you are interested the parts can be here early 2017.

Pretty sure it must be an H260?

Does it have a ring of small bolts on the hubs, inside the rim's centre hole?

Going to pick it up today and will check.

Hi Guys

Can anyone help me with identifying the axle? I am attaching some pics here. It has 12 bolts on the housing.

Also attached is a pic of the leak from the transmission that has developed. I read that the vibration from the prop shaft has caused the seal to fail. Can anyone confirm what issues will have to be resolved here?

Just to confirm, the vehicle is a TD42GQ Y60 pickup with leaf springs rear and front.

Thanks for the help!
