Good day Gents .

Some info about clutches for those that don"t know . A new clutch can take extreme abuse , because the clutch lining is soft and flexible .
When a clutch has done high mileage , the lining becomes brittle , so any sudden harsh use causes the lining to break off in chunks .
In some cases the entire lining breaks off the drive plate , suddenly leaving you with no drive to the gearbox . (like some of you have found out)
Many clutches fail on high mileage vehicles after learner drivers have been driving them , because they often skip a gear when changing gears .
The clutch cannot take the sudden difference in motor and gearbox speeds , which causes the brittle clutch lining to be torn off , or crumble .
Now suddenly you have no clutch . (over landing in an older hi mileage vehicle ? CARRY A SPARE CLUTCH WITH YOU ! you never know how badly stuck
you may become and lose your clutch altogether) .

BRETT .

Good news

Got my truck back today. All works perfectly, and drives like a charm.
I must add, it is much more responsive when puling from standstill.

I took the car to them on Friday late afternoon.
They started taking it apart on Monday morning.
Engine out at the front to allow the gearbox to be dropped. So not an easy job.
Wednesday afternoon it was all done.
Well, so far so good.
(I will take pictures of the old clutch over the weekend and post it here)

I will keep posted if there are any latent issues.
But so far I can really recommend these guys.
The workshop is very clean.

They specialise in Land cruisers. There was one 80s and one 105 being worked on, and two 60 series just outside the shop.
But they are happy to work on mine again (that is important to know for a mix-breed like mine)

It is owner-manged by Ralph:

Good news Alex.

Ralph always give's good service, and the Toy guys do with him as we do with Graham they will drive from PTA to Krugersdorp to let him assist with their vehicles. He has helped me out on more than one occasion when I could not get the Patrol to Graham.
