Diff ratios

Post by EdwardWT » 05 Aug 2016 22:02

Hi guys,
Is there anyone who can give me some info on the standard diff ratios used on the different Patrols? Does anyone know the ratios for the 4500 and 4800 and the GQs especially the 4.2 petrol?

Thanks in advance

Out of Interest, I purchased a 80-83 MQ Patrol bakkie (Safari) for my SFA conversion. It came with a C200 front and H260 Right drop rear end. They run 4.88 ratio.

I was very surprised, as this is the original Hardbody ratio, and I was worried sick that I would have to do a ratio change, but got lucky to get the same off the Patrol.

Anyone done an diff ratio upgrade from 4.1-1 to 4.375-1..
and will that compensate for a bigger size tyre or should one rather go to a 4.6-1
any input.....

Hi Errol

Gesels met Charles Duckitt in die Kaap (Oh, eight, three, 708, five, double Oh 3).

Hy het al bietjie rondgespeel hiermee.

Hy is van die opinie dat 1:4.375 op sy 4.8 sal hom 37" bande kan laat ry.
Hy reken ook 1:4.1 is stadig genoeg vir 35"
Skilpad, Shortie & Witblits (in no particular order)

Ha ha Errol, ja daai groot tyres het maar sy tol op krag.
Ek neem aan as jy ratios verander gaan jy voor ook moet doen?
Kan jy nie bietjie meer krag maak op die engine nie?
